Suspended Animation

I honestly knew nothing about Shweta Ganesh Kumar till I got a copy of this book. And as it is with pleasant surprises, I am so glad that I found this treasure chest of tiny jewels that each shine with individual splendor.

unnamedThe title aptly describes each story. You read about every day people, people you may even know or have met over your life time. People, things or even creatures that you identify with because they are portrayed with such honesty and ample detail.  The book identifies points of transition that many do not even realize are essential to existence. The author proves herself to be a great observer of emotions. Be it the exasperation of an unwed girl or a person who simply wants to be believed or a couple who wants their dreams or the beings of the world who wish humans would understand the need to be green or the basic desire of the elderly to be heard. These and many more hopes, fears and decisions made are brought forth for your reading pleasure. The colloquialisms of each city you visit only add that much color to the reading and before you know it, you find yourself rooting for the protagonists with a smile.

A good book is one that not only fulfils your desire to read but also makes you ponder. These pages do all that and more. Even the author’s note in the beginning is a testimony to the author’s humble writing tone.  Every genre lover will find something to satisfy their particular palate.
