Sunshine & Shadows

A sliver of sunshine
Through my window
Falls onto my bedroom floor
A spotlight in the dark
Fascination anew
to be the star of the show
A finger grabs, fiddles
with the afternoon outside
A foot on each side
Gingerly placed and tested
Shadows flicker off and on
Particles of dust dance
on the tune of invisible air
And we go round and round
Squinting, jiggling, strumming
the line that’s shiny and mysterious
To a child a stream of brightness
is a game of shadows
To me the expression of wonder
a sign that magic exists

About Aditi Wardhan Singh

I'm a mom living in Virginia, enjoying chronicling my various escapes with the kids and around the kitchen. I believe being a mom involves a balance of holding on and letting go. And since being a mom is a 24/7 job, cooking though essential, needs to be as easy as can be. So peruse my blog for various experiences in parenting and experiments in cooking.
