Celebrating Childhood.

Janamashtami Poem Translation.

Miracle of Birth,
Brought up by unknown mother,
Naughtiness Innocence,
Won over the love of one and all.

Troubling mama,
Then loving with words,
Scaring her with antics,
Reaching heights in childhood.

Lifting Govardhan mountain easily,
Dancing on the head of Kaliya the snake,
Always treating troubles as a game,
Defeating even demons with a smile.

Teasing Radha gently,
A helper of all friends,
Romancing every gopi with playfulness,
A very smart Butter thief.

We adorn him every Janamashtami,
To honor the beauty of youth,
Swinging his tiny idol,
Breaking the Handi pot as he would,
Celebrating this festival with gale jubilation.

About Aditi Wardhan Singh

I'm a mom living in Virginia, enjoying chronicling my various escapes with the kids and around the kitchen. I believe being a mom involves a balance of holding on and letting go. And since being a mom is a 24/7 job, cooking though essential, needs to be as easy as can be. So peruse my blog for various experiences in parenting and experiments in cooking.
