Commercial Merrymaking

So, yesterday I saw a few updates on facebook about why there is a woman’s day at all. While I too agree that wishing a woman ” Happy Woman’s Day ” is like congratulating someone for having ears, I think there’s some merit to celebrating these commercially encouraged ” Days ” .

I don’t believe it’s to acknowledge the existence of a person but to appreciate and celebrate their existence. I mean how many days a year do you actually Rejoice being a woman? Being a woman comes with a lot of emotional overhauling and work EVERY SINGLE DAY. Nothing in life is easy, and many days we find ourselves cribbing and cursing our own existence but fact is being a girl is surely something special !!

Just like, being a mother, father, sister, brother, friend, husband, wife etc is totally awesome. We each may be on our different paths that are with their own share of difficulties but we each also have a LOT to be thankful for and it’s good for us, to have such days to just stop and take stock of it all and be just for a few moments be happy.

Another facet is for bringing forth a topic for discussion, like women’s rights and what can be done about it. There are these different things like Black History month or International Woman’s Day or Aids day or Earth day or World Cancer Day, which when on googling come up with these totally worth knowing facts about these events or people who have made not just our lives but the world what it is!

So people, pick out your own favorite days. You can also choose to go by these commercially made up days but take a day just to be grateful for whatever makes you smile. It could even be a random day of the year. Your don’t need to go out and splurge. It can be just about wishing each other and admitting to others and ourselves with a few words, memes, jokes, tokens or actions that life is GOOD !
