Friendship – so fickle

Dancing together we walked an expanse
Laughter and merriment galore
A few tears, heart felt moments too
Memories forged forever more

Milestones passed so did time
Soon we turned into people anew
Strangers now with a spattering of words
Hopes one in heart we remain true

And now I find no link to you
No way to look back or return
You are across the dust and sand
Clouds of smoke too hot they burn

I reach out and you pull away
Standing there with a blank face
Had I known of this unknown entity
I would have fenced higher my space

Disappointing often this bond of togetherness
So beautifully strong yet fragile
Never can the weight of expectation it bear
Neither of benevolence or the distant mile

  1. Beautiful! Your poem has captured the trials and tribulations of friendships. The poem has definitely struck a chord in me. Reading the poem, took me through the fast track of friendships, brought back memories..

Thank you for creating this piece!!

Yours ‘fickle/not so fickle’ friend 🙂
